4K video content is now starting to be easily obtained from various sources. Start from Blu-Ray DVD 4K, gaming, and even video streaming. Most people may at this time already feel enough with a resolution of Full HD 1080p (1920 × 1080), which is already considered capable of offering clear color quality. In fact, 4K resolution (3840 × 2160) that we know as UHD (Ultra High Definition) is able to offer quality with a much better color composition than Full HD resolution.

For those of you who plan to build a "private cinema" at home using a projector, it never hurts to choose a projector that offers 4K resolution. Here are some reasons that can consider choosing a 4K projector to build a home theater, according to our experience when using a 4K projector.

1. 4K Resolution Make Images More Detailed

When we talk about 4K resolution on the projector, there are generally two resolution specs of between 3840 x 2160 or 4096 x 2160 pixels. The greater the number of pixels, the more detailed and accurate the image content is displayed. In addition to resolutions, DLP technologies used in the projector to produce quality images are also important.

DLP is the leading projection display technology on the market. Such as DLP chips found on BenQ W2700 projectors that we use. The projector is capable of offering a resolution of true 4K with 8.3 million pixels. This means that 4K projectors with DLP chip technology are not only able to display more detailed image quality but also provide a home theater-quality experience with more accurate color depth.

2. HDR So The Enhancer

In addition to 4K resolution, some projector manufacturers have also now embedded HDR (High Dynamic Range) features. The presence of HDR features on 4K projectors can be arguably the enhancement feature. High Dynamic Range, or can be abbreviated to HDR, is a technology that has a standard DCI-P3 color range.

Speaking of HDR, the images are shown are not just a matter of significantly improved ratio and color levels. HDR can also be said to display image quality with more natural color composition, for example, you can see in the comparison image above.

On BenQ W2700 projectors that we come back to use are equipped with BenQ's exclusive HDR-Pro feature. HDR-Pro on BenQ W2700 offers a greater contrast range to showcase every detail of 4K content, whether it's from Blu-ray player, console, or streaming content.

In addition to the HDR-Pro feature, the BenQ W2700 is also equipped with CinematicColor technology. This technology utilizes optimal colors in the wide DCI-P3 Cinematic Color space. So this projector is capable of producing the best cinematic images for home theater projection display.

3. Flexibility

Projectors that offer 4K resolution are certainly not only able to present movie content with quality images, but can also be utilized for other needs, such as games. Some AAA-type games, both for gaming PC and consoles, now begin to offer a wide range of resolutions up to 4K. One example exists on the Sony PS4 PRO game console. The game console launched in the past 2017 has improved, which is capable of delivering 4K HDR visuals. The difference you'll feel will be particularly pronounced when playing the game on your PS4 PRO using a 4K HDR-enabled monitor.

As you see in the screenshot above, we try to play a game on your PS4 PRO by pairing when HDR is on and not enabled. It is clearly visible in the image above that the level of color accuracy shown when HDR is active becomes more detailed and brighter. The current game developers reportedly have been heading towards 4K HDR format to offer the latest games in the future.

4. Price

For the price of a projector with a resolution, 4K may currently still be quite high when compared to a TV measuring 32 "or 42". But for a TV above 55 inches offering 4K resolution and other additional features such as HDR, it still has a fairly depleted price of your pockets. As a comparison, the wide-screen TV measuring 100 "with 4K resolution is priced at over Rp 100 million. The price is certainly very draining the bag when compared to a projector that has similar capabilities.

For a much cheaper solution, the selection of 4K projectors can be a great choice, such as the BenQ W2700 projector that is priced at around Rp 35 million. Interestingly, the projector is even capable of projecting images up to a screen size twice as large as the TV.

5. Outdoor 4K Experience

Projectors are more fun to use in groups or while you are hanging out with your family. Moreover, while you are having a family gathering by holding gatherings in a place, of course by carrying a projector to enjoy the shared entertainment will give different experiences and create their own fun, so you can create a home cinema atmosphere outside the house.
